New Photo Shooter - 10-12-2011, 02:32 PM

Hello all,

I am new to the field of photography. I have a Nikon D40x, I have taken a few classes on the basics and would love to move on to the more advance/intermediate level, however....I am having trouble with Shutter Speed/Aperture and Exposure still. Is there anywhere out there that I can find more cheat information/flashcards, something. The Pixtus helps, but maybe I am not reading it correctly. I noticed over the weekend when taking picutres, when I set the exposer for evenly exposure, my shutter speed changed to where it would require using a tripod. Is there a way to readjust for this?

Here's where I started to learn:

Learning about Exposure – The Exposure Triangle

ISO Settings in Digital Photography

Introduction to Shutter Speed in Digital Photography

Introduction to Aperture in Digital Photography

And a review of a very good book: Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson – a Reader Review

The book can be purchased here: Pixtus.com: Book: Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition: How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera

Do you have the book "understanding Exposure"? It will help understand a LOT

Try shooting the same photo with different exposures (shutter speed and aperture) and compare them. You'll start to notice the differences after a while.
(hint; when you're close to your subject and use a low aperture number (larger apeture "hole), the background will be more blurry.) That was my first "discovery" when I did my practice shots.
