Glad to see so many new folks like me! - 10-29-2011, 10:02 PM

I'm brand spankin' new to the site and to photography. I just took a beginners class and learned all about the basics. I'm about to take a trip to Disney World with my 2 1/2 year old daughter and I'm really hoping I can pull off some magical pictures. My main fear is that I'm going to take too long to adjust the aperture and shutter speed and miss some great opportunities. Any tips to make it more fluid?

Welcome Loretta!

Practice practice practice! You could shoot in aperture priority until you get comfortable with shooting manual.

Welcome! My 2 1/2 year old has become very uncooperative when the camera is out.

New to photography? About to go to Disney? Going with a 2.5 year old? Just set it on auto and have fun.

Thanks for the tips. I'm looking forward to practicing and getting help from this site. I may be a little ambicious, so I may default to program mode for most of the time.

That's a big problem for me, too, which is why I'm so excited to be able to take so many pictures and hopefully catch ONE good one.
