[2012 project 12]

Hi folks, greetings from Iceland.

Have you ever been to Iceland? I have lived here for 19 years. I am originally from Scotland and although Scotland is one amazingly beautiful country it cannot compare to the vast panoramic landscapes of Iceland.

I am so interested in the mystical meanings of numbers and got interested in the year 2012. So I came up with the idea to make a photography and art project to help inspire world peace and encourage environmental awareness. Not sure about Dec 12th 2012 in Mesoamerican Long Count but the day folks are talking about the end on the callendar is the 21st Dec.

It is quite facinating all the various predictions for 2012 both of disasters and of great positive changes in the evolution of mankind both physically and spiritually. All the more reason to make some kind of record of that year.

My original idea was to take photographs of the same scene (my local mountain and foliage around it) each month and then paint a picture from those photographs. Since I started blogging about it at the beginning of this year the project has expanded to include as many people as possible and all their ideas. Together with love and photography and art we can make a positive effect on the world.

Ahh! from Frisco. May I send you some crisp, white snow from Iceland for your palm trees :) or are they just in Miami?

Re: Project 12, what category is most interesting for you personally?

12:12:12 – A record of the mystical year of 2012 in 12 moments.
Peace 12 – Art and photography inspiring World Peace.
Gaia 12 – Art and photography encouraging environmental awareness.
A Study of 12 – Highlight your favourite things with one example a month.

I like 12:12:12 and tried it this year with a tree in my garden, now I have an idea to make it a more panoramic view, as then we can see even more changes from month to month.

Mind you, I also like the other categories, so might just end up submitting entries for all 4. At least one with photos, one with oil paintings and one with video. Photos are the easiest way to take part but I am a better oil painter than I am a photographer.
