Hi everyone

I just came across this site about 20 mins ago, and I'm hoping very much to learn some things from those in the know.

I used to be quite involved in photography many, many years ago, then life took over (3 fiances, 1 wife and a hell of a lot of bills ), and the photo world and I got further and further apart.

I'm going on an African safari next year and decided to get back into photography. At present, I have just obtained a Canon XSi to get started with (this digital malarky is waaaaay over my head), but will be very grateful to all for any advice and tips.

Unfortunately, I will be asking some questions that most may not want to answer because its probably all basic stuff to you lot, but I'm certain it will help me big-time.

Anyway, I'm glad that I stumbled across this site and I look forward to conversing with as many of you as possible.

Colin

Colin, welcome to the forum. Go ahead and ask questions. We all had to start this experience somewhere. Some of us old film folks had/have a steep learning curve to get into digital. There are plenty of helpful people around here. Sometimes the search on here will give you answers, but sometimes it is difficult to decipher so ask away.

Welcome aboard Colin

Unfortunately, I will be asking some questions that most may not want to answer because its probably all basic stuff to you lot, but I'm certain it will help me big-time.

Ask all you need to, Great group of folks here and I am sure someone will answer or at least point ya in the right direction to find the answer.
Dont know what your intrest is, but getting together at one of the walks or gatherings is a great place to gain some knowledge in nature, city, landscape or whatever else you enjoy.
BTW, I have a gathering this April (see calender) and it would be a good place to learn nature/wildlife and macro photography.

Welcome to the forum! There are also several meetups around Houston, including the one tomorrow out in Katy. We also tend to get together for some photowalks. Houston's pretty active, so keep an eye on the calendar.
