Let me introduce myself! An Englishman in Houston.....

Have just joined Pixtus as I thought it would be a good idea seeing as I am visiting Houston for a while (from England, UK) and want to find out about the photographic scene over here. I am a professional photographer with just over three years experience in the UK. I started out aiming to develop a general photography business - weddings, portrait, events, etc. but somehow I have been steered in the direction of sports events photography as a result of helping out with local sports clubs and people doing endurance events for charity.
I love capturing personality and true character in people I photograph and aim to give real value for money in the images I shoot.
So far I have done coverage of the Deca Ironman Challenge 2010 in Monterrey, Mexico for 220 Triathlon Magazine in the UK, covered the UK Athletics Trials and Championships in 2010 and 2011, travelled with endurance athletes participating in the inaugural Europe 135 mile race, photographed a Parkinson's sufferer during his month long 1400 mile run, yes, I said RUN, from London to Rome, covered the Italian 2011 DecaIronman Championship in Sicily, Italy and more recently got some great shots of the 2012 US Olympic Marathon Trial in Houston.
Hopefully in May 2012 I will be following the same Parkinson's sufferer I mentioned earlier as he cycles across the USA (California to New York) to raise money for Parkinson's research.
Meanwhile, I would love to develop a network of American photographers, photo agencies and publishers, over the coming months with a view to broadening my experience and expanding my portfolio of images on American culture and landscapes.

Love this country and looking forward to seeing as much of it as possible over the coming years. Any advice on employment opportunities, etc. greatly appreciated. Am hoping to get a Media visa to lengthen stay in US and be able to send images back to UK/European publishers/stock sites to pay my way for the moment. Carpe Diem!!!
