hey... just found out about this site thru someone at Art of Manliness i was complaining in our photo group about how PhotoSIG fosters extremism, Flickr is a mutual admiration society, and 500px seems to be the same. i was looking for a place for true photo criticism. you might be able to glean from Flickr which photos are good and which are bad, but you won't know *why*.

my love for photography comes from a love for light. as a kid, i loved playing with anything that made or reflected light in some curious way. as a young adult, i was a lighting tech and lighting designer for theatre and concerts and such. i loved getting to play with motion lights (aka intelligent lights, or automated luminaires). i miss that world, but when i wanted to start a family, i had to "get a real job".
