I want to publicly thank John Stoval for ( hope I spelled it right, John) for telling me of this site. I have found a new online home on this site now.
I am a transplanted Landscape photographer from Northern California. I lived on the edge of Yosemite Nat Park, so i guess I became quite spoiled with all there was to see and do in the Sierras I have sold in some shows, and do my own matting and framing. I guess I am an advanced Amateur.
I am now living midway between Austin and San Antonio on the edge of the hill country looking for new locations to shoot from my new home Texas.
I shoot both digital and film both 35mm and MF. Any other shooters looking for some photo partners? have Canoe will travel.
Thanks to the Admins fo maintaining such a nice and informative site with the Texas focus.

Hey Steve, you might be interested in checking out Big Thicket National Preserve a little east of you by Beaumont. They have several outfitters around there that let you do overnight trips, just pitch a tent on the sandy bank when you're ready. You won't see much in the way of animals, but the forest is pretty much unadulterated aside from the occassional trash left by lesser humans. http://www.nps.gov/bith | | | |

Welcome to our little corner of the web! Since you are a landscape artist and you live in the hill country, I have a couple of suggestions:
(1) Springtime Texas wildflowers are usually great in the Hill Country (see WildflowerHaven)
(2) Visit Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
and if you like to travel a bit (especially during the spring time wildflower season) see:
(1) Big Bend National Park
(2) Palo Duro Canyon State Park and nearby Caprock Canyon State Park
and I am sure there other places that will be recommended for you here in the forum
Enjoy Texas!

Steve, I'm so glad you found us from my directions. You'll like it here and find great suggestions for places to shoot.
