Saying Hello from Duncanville. - 11-03-2006, 11:06 PM

Hey all! I'm so excited to see that there is a forum for Texas photographers! Thanks ShutteredEye for the referral. This is perfect.

As far as intro's go:
I am a full time student and SAHM to two little girls. My husband and I live in Duncanville, although we are in the smack-middle of buying a home. So we should be moving a city over in the near future. *fingers crossed.* I've been "into" Photography since I was old enough to push 110 "Pocket Instamatic" film into my little point and shoot toy camera. I took Photography classes in high school and into college. Graduating cameras to the K1000 Pentax, and then to the Pentax ZX-M. In 2003 I switched over to digital and was gifted the Canon Powershot G3. The Canon Powershot G3 died a rather quick death in our homes bathtub back in 2005, and was replaced by my current Canon Powershot G6.

I do not have any aspirations of starting a business or going "pro" with my pictures. I just wouldn't mind getting my photography level up to par with my desires. Photography feeds that artsy-fartsy inner non-mommy center inside me. A lot of the other crafty things that I'm into (cheese making, sewing, scrapbooking...) directly feed into my "Mommy-ness" This is one of the few hobbies that I do purely for my own enjoyment.

Having said that I do want to announec that this evening I welcomed into our little family the Canon EOS 30D. It marks a renewed interest on my part to refine my skills (amature that they may be. ;) ) I know I said it earlier, but I am excited to see such photography support here in Texas. What a cool place to come and talk pictures.

Welcome, from Garland. And I'm still using my K1000!

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

The K1000 is the one camera that I don't have anymore. I'm actualy not even sure what became of her. I still have my Pentax ZX-M, although something is off in the metering. It happens randomly, so I an shoot a great roll of film, and turn around the very next day and everything is a mess on the next roll. I'm half tempted to try and get it serviced. Ecxept 1) It would probably be cheaper to buy new and 2) I haven't used actual film since my switch to digital in 2003.

P.S. My "C" button is sticking (I shooed my 2 year old away from my computer yesterday, but I'm thinking she may have had time to do some damage before I disovered her.) So I apologize if some of my words are wonky when it ocmes (see!) to the "C" placement.
