Ex-patriate Texas Native - 11-18-2006, 07:10 AM

Hi everyone,

In my old age I'm living in Tennessee. I have a new hobby, taking photos with my Canon G2.

A fellow member at Open Photography Forums pointed me to this forum when I posted to him that his photos were making me homesick. (He has put up marvelous shots of the bridges and bats at Austin and Round Rock, among other photos, at OPF.)

So I came here to see what more could make me homesick and found that I had to register in order to view images.

There are some wonderful galleries here, and I'm enjoying taking my time, to try to view all of them.

Mary

Welcome to the group Mary. Tennessee is nice. I would not have any objection to living there. I grew up in WV hillbilly country.
Glad you came aboard!

Kick your feet up and enjoy your visit back to your home state.

Not sure but you may be our first member from Tennessee, but I bet being in Nashville has you hearing a lot of Texas accents in town since a lot of the Lone Star States Musical artists pass through the town.

So I guess the fall foliage in the area has already peaked?

Gee, Mary, if you post Tennessee photos I may get homesick!!
I have family there and spent many happy summers as a boy on a small farm in Clarkesville.
Welcome, and make yourself at home.

Thanks for the welcome.

I could post a photo or two from TN.

Snapshot quality, though.

Virtually speaking, thanks.

They do. But I still prefer Texas Swing, in country-style music. :)

Has. Last windstorm shook nearly all the remaining leaves from the deciduous trees.

Here's a shot of my sister's front yard (she's my next-door neighbor) taken early this month. A friend of mine at Open Photography Forums cloned out the utility wires for me.

Hope you like it.

Thanks.

I like to discuss Canon, but so far mastering the G2 is about enough to keep my hands full.

Thanks for the welcome.

Nicknames et al - 11-19-2006, 08:17 AM

Thanks a million, Huck, for the welcome.

Please call me "Mary."

I have some nicknames, but "Mary" causes me the fewest problems. :)

Canon Gear - 11-19-2006, 08:49 AM

Thanks for the welcome, Daniel.

In Canon gear, i have the Canon PowerShot G2, an external two-slot battery charger, and two extra batteries.

Late last summer I began shooting exclusively in RAW, and so found carrying an extra battery along as well as having a multi-GB CF a very prudent thing to do.

< grin > A prominent family in Nashville with whom I recently became friends has the *last* name of Merry.

They do seem to manage.

Some of my e-mail pals on an international mailing list to which I'm subscribed spell my name "Marry" and I can't get them persuaded out of doing this. I think maybe it's the way it's spelled in their native languages.

Or maybe they just like puns. ;)
