Hello all,
I have just discovered this site thanks to a new friend. I recently moved to Texas from Wisconsin. I am originally from Arizona. Yes, I've moved around a lot. I am not new to Texas, though. I have lived here or visited frequently since the late 1960's. Mostly I've lived here in Odessa, where I am now, but I have also lived in Jacinto City, Baytown and Houston, in the early '90's
I became interested in photography about 4 years ago when I traded one of my daughters a Sony Video Cam for a Kodak DX4330 p/s. I lived on a farm at the time next to a busy state highway and began shooting my 3 favorite subjects, landscapes, motorcycles/cars and my grandchildren.
Last year, I talked my wife into trying my hobby and I purchased her a Pentax *ist DL. She really liked it and began really learning how to use it. We also, began classes with NYIP. She is taking the professional course and I'm taking the Digital course. I had purchased a Nikon Coolpix 8400 just before christmas, last year, but after trying out my wifes DSLR, I purchased me one about a month after we bought hers. Now we have twin *ist DL's.
For the past 2 years, I have been staying mostly on
http://www.photographyreview.com .
I have been the Reviews Moderator for about a year and a half and recently became the moderator for the Pentax forum. I really like the family atmosphere there and am looking forward to a similar experience here.
I consider myself a beginnng amateur hobbyist Photographer. I enjoy taking snapshots as well as setting up and shooting deliberate artistic works, including macros, photoshopped works, lots of landscapes and shooting sports, auto/motorcycle events or rally's, animals and nature and people (but not portraits).
I'm not sure how far I want to take my photography, but at the present, each day I shoot is a learning experience and still tons of fun!!! I look forward to my association with this group and hope that I can add something to each and everyones experience.
Ken
