Hi Everyone!

I recently renewed by interest in photography after about a 10 year lapse. I did and still do most my shooting with film, but also have a Canon A80 that comes in quite handy for those impromptu moments.

My film SLR set up includes: Pentax Super Program, Pentax 28-80mm/f3.5-4.5, Pentax 70-210mm/f4, Tamron 17mm/f3.5, Tamron 28mm/f2.5, Pentax 50mm/f1.4, Pentax 2x teleconverter, Pentax AF280T flash.

Someday I will probably bite the bullet and purchase the Pentax *istDS, but I'm really hoping that Pentax will come out with a full-frame DSLR since I'm a bit of a wide angle freak.

I recently purchased a Canon 8400F scanner and have been slowly digitizing lots of old shots plus the sudden rush of new ones I've been taking. Looking forward to sharing some of those images and learning from everyone here and contributing what I know to the discussion.

Regards,
EH

PS - Does anyone know a good local lab (NW Houston) that does E6 processing in house?

Same here, but mine was over 20 years. I used to have a full darkroom, several cameras (my favorite was a Canon F1), lights, backdrops, etc. Did shots for rock bands, model and actor portfolios, industrial publications, and weddings. I think weddings is what finally killed my desire to be a professional photographer.

Now I only have a little 3.2 MP digital, but I'm seriously looking at a digital SLR like the Canon. I'm also thinking about investing in a film scanner, as I've heard they give you much better quality images from your old pictures.

My brother works for Canon, so going that direction is quite possible.

The *ist wouldn't be in the running if it wasn't for all the compatible Pentax gear that I already have. (and the small size of my wallet... )

Pentax - 06-10-2005, 03:31 PM

You sound like me, Pentax film SLR and a Cannon A-80 but I do not have the additonal Pentex lens to bought a Nikon D-70. I love my Nikon but I think there is so much good equipment available that one cannot think that good photos can only be achieved with Nikon or cannon.
Almost bought the Pentax, like the way they fit into my hands.
