Hi Ya'll!!! I am a amateur photographer who just moved up to the Canon 20d from the Canon G1. Boy do I have alot to learn. I enjoy going to all the old ghost towns of West Texas and trying to get the feel of the old west. I am located out by the Big Bend State Park etc. I really enjoyed my trip to Langtry, Texas and the old Judge Roy Bean's old courthouse. It is good to find a site like this as there are so many wonderful parts of Texas that alot of us do not know about. If I can answer any questions I will be glad to but I will probably have more questions than answers. Thanks for allowing me in.

I was out that way a couple of months ago to catch a Sul Ross State football game. Lots of beautiful landscapes. You don't have any pictures of the Marfa lights to post, do you?

Welcome,
Greg

There is plenty of interesting stuff to shoot our your way. I try to make it to the Bend once a year in the spring. I've never really had time to find any ghost towns to photograph. If you have any suggestions for good ones to visit let me know. I'm sure other folks around here would be interested too.

This place wasn't a true Ghost Town when this picture was taken about 10 or 12 years ago, but it was heading that way fast and it may well be one now!

The picture is me on my Guzzi, Which I still ride, at my namesake town of Valentine, Texas.
Valentine is South and and a little bit West of Ft. Davis. A general store /w Post office there is known for Posting Valentine Cards through the US Mail for Valentines Day.

Edit: After I put these pictures here, it occured to me that maybe I shouldn't have posted them here in this part of the forum!!!
If they are taboo here, Please say so and I will remove them! Thanks. PAV

Thanks for all the responses. I just realized I said it was a State Park. Oh well, old timer's disease is great. If you are coming out that way there are alot of ghost towns down there. I just heard that they are re-doing the old rail line that used to run all through the big bend area and it will go from San Angelo to El Paso and back. Supposedly there would be some fantastic scenery that you can't see any other way. Should be done this summer so they say. I can't wait to ride the old rail cars that our ancestors rode through that area. Anybody coming out this way, give me a shout and maybe we can have a cup at Dairy Queen and meet each other.

Hey again Eagle eye,

A friend of mine, Ralph Delmar, just moved down to the Big Bend area. Terlinguia area to be more exact, and opened a Motorcycle business. That guy used to go down there 3 or 4 times a year when he lived up here. He probably knows about as much about that area as anybody. He has been all over it on bikes. If anybody knows where the Ghost Towns are around there, Ralph should. Why he probably evan knows the ghosts on a first name basis.
If you're ever over his way, look him up. He shouldn't be hard to find cause there can't be very many Motorcycle shops around there!
