Hi everyone.
I finally had a chance to check out this new forum from Abel. Great idea by the way.
A little about me...Received my first 'real' camera for high-school graduation, a Canon AE1-Program. Loved it. I must have burned 50 rolls of film the first month alone. I had to re-adjust my spending on music to feeding my new addiction of photography. During college I got into the darkroom development side and really enjoyed the work. Still have that camera along with a few others like a Yashika medium format (think Roliflex).
I didn't make the jump to digital until just a few years ago. Bought a Kodak point and shoot. While I do enjoy the immediate satisfaction of seeing the shot (and knowing if it is a keeper) I still like the result of the film print. I recently upgraded my digital to the latest Canon offering, EOS 20D. Wow what a camera. With all of the bells and whistles of a real 35mm film I know have the control I was missing in the Kodak point and shoot. I’m also learning more of tools like Photoshop to bring out the pictures to my expectations. Also just purchased a scanner to load in all those 35mm pictures I’ve taken over the years.
Just relocated to Austin August 2003. Lived in Houston from 1989 until 2003. But for some reason never did get out and take pics of Houston. By profession, I’m an eCommerce developer for SYSCO Foods. Out of Houston. Though I’ve taken photography classes and I don’t know how many pictures I still am very much an amateur.
Looking forward to enjoying everyone's offering to this forum.
Take care.
