Guess I'm the lucky 50th member. Looks like a good group of people here Abel. Here's a little background information.
I live in Houston and have been a photography buff since my early teens. Got my first 35mm rangefinder camera at age 16. Moved up to a Canon FTb (yea, now I've dated myself) while attending U of H. Worked as a staff photographer for the Daily Cougar and school yearbook. Then I got a "real job" in the geophysical industry and only dabbled with photography and that was mostly when I went fishing.
Got my first point and shoot digital in 2001 and haven't touched my 35mm since. Because of a layoff at Western Geco near the end of 2003, I started a fishing guide service (saltwater). Digital photography has played a large role in my new business. Customers love those next day delivered email photos. It also opened up a few other unexpected photo avenues. I now write a monthly fishing column with photos for the
Gulf Coast Connections a Texas coastal fishing magazine and have had numerous photos published in
Saltwater Texas and the Galveston
Islander.
I'm still shooting with a P&S Olympus C-5050Z but have my eye on the DSLR 20D Canon. I've been self learning PS 7 for almost two years now and getting to the point of feeling comfortable with it.
Looking forward to meeting up with and learning from other Texas members.
