Views from the deer blind - 11-21-2009, 10:35 AM

Last weekend, I went to the lease with my boys. I was having serious reservations about why I took my camera as it was very cloudy. But as the sun started to come up, I was in for a treat. Even though the view was limited, the colors were great. These were all handheld (and it is very dark in nowhere west Texas at o-dark-thirty) and I was told I couldn't take my tripod.

And why I always take my camera to the lease. Sitting in a blind with a 12 year-old can be a little boring. It's a wonder how he's ever shot a deer.

I like the 2nd image a lot... lovely colors and silhouette... I just wish the tree was not cut from the left hand side... :-)

Thank you. I'll have to back thru the images. I'm almost sure I have one that has a little more breathing room on the left - just not sure it has the colors of this one. Trying to take pics out of a small window is interesting.

Thank you, Therese! I actually could bring the tripod but was told that once we got in the blind to stay there and the amount of room relative to the windows is limited. Since I always follow directions, I was hanging out of the window when I took these.

The last one is absolutely beautiful... great colors and it is not cut on the left either! :-)

Thank you, Vibhav! That certainly means a lot! Without a tripod, these were certainly not taken to print but rather to capture a moment in time. While we Texans may not have the Rocky Mtns. or the west/east coast beaches, we certainly have some beautiful sunrises/sunsets. Thank you again!

Debbi, I recognize his technique. He is not sleeping, he actually is in a meditating state trying to become "one with the deer"

Most things in my life remind me of a Jeff Foxworthy routine. Armadillos come to mind.

WOW! Nice pics. I take a monopod to the stand and it works well for me.
