These are great, Jeff! Have you ever considered submitting a folio of some of your best b/w images to LensWork for publication? If not, you should. Seriously.

Good job Jeff
I really need to get out there. It's just been too cold here.

Have you found the mystic seven yet. ( the number seven ) Next time your here let me know and if it's warm enough I'll try and take you to it.

John - thanks for looking and commenting.

JohnT - thanks. I've considered it but haven't actually submitted anything yet. That said, part of the motivation for multiple trips to Bisti is that publications like Lenswork tend to prefer project work rather than 'greatest hits'.

Gordon - Thanks. I remember seeing your picture of the magic 7, but I didn't see the formation myself that i can recall.

Wil & Lyncca - thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

You were right, Jeff, the petrified wood does look like a fallen over headstone...

I think that the Hoodoo & Clouds might be the most striking of all the Bisti pictures you have. I went back to your gallery and looked through all the sets and this one is probably the most memorable and striking.

However, if I were choosing one for the wall, I really like the feel and sense of place from Layered Badlands. I think that these wider area shots can sometimes be harder to capture and have them be more than a postcard, and this one does it for me. The pictures of specific features and formations carry interest because of the features themselves... but you have to create the interest in a shot like this... a desire to peek around to the other side of the mesa, and this one takes me there.

Thanks for sharing them. I think you have a good project collection here... now line them all up and select 10-12.

I welcome comments on any picture I post... Thanks.

Hey Jeff, I like "Twilight Hoodoos" the best. Ilike the way that the clouds and rocks pull your eyes into the pic. Thanks for sharing,

Greg

These are great shots!

I went there a few years ago and got lost for three hours. It had just rained, and there were no tracks at all. I got so excited about photographing the place, that I didn't keep track of where I came from. My wife was waiting for me at the trailhead and was frantic. I still want to go back someday. It's a magical place.

Quy - Thanks for the feedback. Sorry you could make it this time.

Wes - Thanks for the feedback. It's interesting to 'Hoodoo & Clouds' get strong feedback (both here and at DPR), while I like that shot it didn't quite live up to the expectations I had while shooting it. I think the clouds not being completely in focus bugs me a little. I thought the rock formation was really neat though. Layered Badlands is probably my favorite image from this set, I like the alternating layers of texture and tone.

Greg - Thanks! That one was a matter of seeing the amazing clouds and scrambling to find a foreground before the light/clouds dissipated.

Jim - Thanks for looking. I can sympathize, it's pretty easy to get turned around in some areas there. I've gotten to know the place fairly well after several visits, but I still always take a GPS with me.

Layered Badlands is also my favorite, but again, really strong images. Always like seeing what you post and this is a great place for a long term "project."
