Welcome, nice shot. You may get nailed on the picture size. I think 800pix on the biggest side is the rule. You might want to read up on that. Sorry If I am wrong, I just assume 800 as all the other sites have that as their limit.

Oops. Thanks for the compliment and the heads up on the photo size. I just reposted it smaller.

Well I read the rules and couldnt find anything about picture size. Maybe they dont have a rule here but 800 is the typical post size so people with smaller monitors dont have to scroll to see the whole picture. Although its hard to believe at this point anyone is still using a 600x800 res monitor. Can you even buy 3:4 aspect ratio monitors anymore?

Something else a lot of people dont do when creating files for posting is reduce the ppi to 72. Monitors arent capable of displaying ppi higher than that so anything larger just makes a larger file that slows down load time for those wilt slower internet connections. Not saying you did that, justsomething I have noticed over the years.

Thank you again! I am new to this forum and my website is very new. Should I reduce the dpi before I upload it to smugmug? I thought if I did and someone bought a print it wouldnt look good.

Thats a different story. If you intend it for printing then it should be between 200-300ppi.

I guess you could create a unlisted gallery that allows external linking and use it for pictures you intend to post here or on other forums and put the higher ppi pictures in the public galleries and not link those. It means making two files but people on 3G connections or dialup will be thankful.

No sir. Just tweaked it a bit in the Canon Software, Digital Photo Professional. I am wanting to learn HDR soon.

Nice shot! How do you like the T2i? I just got one as well and took it out to the zoo to fool around with. I will post a couple of shots in the animal forum.
