Another Big Bend Trip - 03-24-2010, 10:38 PM

Here are a few pictures from my recent trip to Big Bend NP during spring break. I can't really decide which of the first 2 to like, b&w or colored. What do you guys think?

Here's an HDR that I like. There are more pictures at my Big Bend Trip blog and my gallery

Thanks for looking and C&C are always appreciated.

Did you find the park crowded over Spring Break? I mean, the parking lots and camp grounds.

It was crowded but not as I have imagined nor to the point where you can't find a parking spot. The hotel was full and we didn't want to stay outside of the park, so we were ready to do roadside camping if the campgrounds were full. We had a site reserved at RGV (2 months in advance) for the first night and the first thing we did when we got to the park was to find a first-come, first-served site for the next 2 nights. When we came, Cottonwood campgrounds were still open but RGV and Chisos were full. We picked Chisos since it was in the center and were able to find a spot for the next 2 nights. We arrived there Saturday and left on Wednesday. The weather was great, it got a little hot while hiking when you're in the full sun, my arms were burned. The temp dropped dramatically at night though...it got down to the low 30s..in contrast to high 70s to 80s during the day. You should go if you get a chance...it's not an expensive trip at all..if you take your own car and camp..all you'd have to spend is $14/night and food and gas money. Split that by the number of people going...it'd be too cheap not to go :)

I like the B&W better. There is not much color but great texture so making it B&W takes the distraction of color away and lets you really notice the rock and how it curves around into the photo.
