When the beach (and your hotel room) are flooded with gorgeous light starting at about 5:00 a.m., it's hard to sleep in. Actually, while I hate to get up that early in real life, it was such a pleasure to take an early morning walk on the beach and have it all to myself and if you waited much later to get out with a camera, you'd miss the best time of day.
