No attempt to hijack your Austin thread. I only wanted to share some knowledge with the quoted poster on the issue of shooting from the Trinity levees, in case he might be interested in looking for a good spot.

Nice shots, looks like Austin's skyline has changed quite a bit from just a couple of years ago when I visited.

I'm glad this got bumped. Nice skyline. I prefer the version with more trees because it provides a lovely juxtaposition between nature/man but that's my interpretation. Both are lovely.

What lens did you use to create this skyline?

Thanks for the kind words! For these I used a Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VRII @ 200mm, 4sec, f/11, 8 exposures.

Very cool Joe. The clouds in that first image are amazing. What (if any) PP work did you to do really bring the sky alive in that shot?

the first image i tone mapped with photomatix and touched up with ps cs4. the second i think i just tweeked in the ps raw converter.
