I don't know the first thing about landscape photography - I'm a portrait girl - but I picked up a 5D this weekend and tried it out at the little place I stayed at in Brenham this weekend. Thoughts?

Amanda, to me the first three could have benifited from more depth of feild, maybe f11.
I like the colors in number two, but like many landscapes these days power lines interfere.
Do you have a tripod?

Heres what I do.
1. F11-16
2. focus in manual set to infinity
3. ISO 100
4. Mode AV
5. Always tripod mounted.
6. Filters help a lot for sunrises and sunsets.
7. If no filters, bracket the shots, that way you get the full tonal range.
Hope these help

Thank you, Steve and Fred for your comments. I do have a tripod but I didn't have it with me and was losing light fast. Besides, I'm not sure my camera would know what to do with F11 or f16 - the highest I ever have it is 8 (and that's a rarity!).

Very nice images, Amanda - I like the sunset colors you captured. On the first image i think it needs just a little rotation (counter clockwise0 to level out the horizon. Maybe clone out the wires in the second image (and just a tad CCW rotation). The last image is a post card - very nice!
