My wife and I are headed up to Banff National Park in Canada on a three day quick getaway this coming weekend.....and I was wondering if anyone here at TPF would have any suggestions as best spots for landscape photo locations there?
We are staying at Lake Louise but since we are unfamiliar with the area, I thought I would ask if anyone is familiar with the park and has suggestions of where to shoot?
I know there are scenics all around, but just want to check with all of you who know the area to be sure I don't miss something that might not be on the main highway....
Thanks. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Lake Louise is one beautiful place.
The scenery of the lake with mountains surrounding is absolutely breathtaking.
Hope for good weather and you won't be disappointed.

Castle Mountain-at Castle Junction. Sunsets!
Be flexible. The last time we were there, it rained & snowed on us all the way from Calgary to the Icefields Chalet. so, the next day dawned perfect and we backtracked to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. A perfect day. It snowed two more days. In July. Be prepared for anything!
Have fun!

ps: It's easy to be overwhelmed by the mountains & glaciers. Don't overlook the waterfalls. Even the little ones you can see from the highway & aren't marked with signs.

But it is great to have some specific locations such as Castle mountain on my list of shooting spots.
Appreciate the recommendations.

Sept is the best time for Canadian Rockies.
From the U.S. boarder to Jasper there are hundreds of great locations.
You can get a tour bus or just drive.
The key is to get around and its point and shoot.
They even have bikes on the freeway.
Dont forget Peyto Lake ...

I thought Johnston Canyon was a nice walk and there were nice photo ops along the way as well as of the lower and upper falls. If you don't have much time, the shorter walk just to the lower falls is very nice. Bring a tripod (and ND filters if you have them) because there will be an opportunity to get some nice slow shutterspeed silky water at several spots along the way in the water crashing over the rocks in the stream and of the waterfall.

I've never been but it's definitely on the "bucket list". From photos I've seen, it looks you could just stop the car just about anywhere, get out and start shooting.

I'd seen some pictures posted by TPF name "vibhav" in this thread http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...-last-set.html
He may know some details of the places he visited.

We could spend a month offering locations that might take a year to photograph. Way too much good scenery. It's everywhere.

This may be of little help, but this is what I've done in the past on trips. I buy a postcard with the scenery I'm interested in, then ask the locals where to go to get that shot. YMMV.

David,
Great idea. In the Canadian Rockies, you may be looking at the scene while purchasing the postcard.
