October Sunrise in Brown County TX - 12-02-2010, 08:58 PM

First image of the day. I'm new to photography, and this an untouched image I took in mid-October. At this time, I don't have any photo image editing software, but would welcome any feedback on what kinds of things could be done and any recommendations on 'inexpensive' software for a beginner. Thanks, Ken

Photos like this one deserve to be displayed at their best: try posting at least 800MP on the long side of a landscape view. Keep up the good work.

I agree, make it bigger for all to see. It's a beautiful photo! And I believe Picasso (for editing) is free also.

Smile PhotoScape - 12-03-2010, 09:42 PM

A new free viewer and editor I've been experimenting with is "PhotoScape." It won't replace PhotoShop but smoothly does several things I like:

Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software (Photo Editor) Download

Thanks all, for the tips on the photo editing software. After experimenting with Picasa last night, I think the next thing I need is a hardware upgrade! But I will check out Gimp and Photoscape in the mean time.

The larger view really makes the scene pop. Great capture Ken. Keep sharing.

Beautiful colors!! The larger version really makes a difference! I've been using Nikon Capture NX 2 since I got into digital ('06) and really like it. Hasn't got the power of PS but I don't do tons of editing on any of my photos...it might be one you would like the check out.

The larger display shows the depth of colors. Very nice capture.

Very nice shot Ken! Keep it up and you'll be poor in no time! LOL Photography is very rewarding, but it can get to be an expensive hobby if you let it.

You have the right idea to start with inexpensive software. If you do get the itch to spend $ on software be sure to take advantage of the free trials that are usually available.
