That's really nice, Paul. Great nuances of color and light.

Really well shot.

This is a question maybe for Jeff or anyone else who knows

This thread shows pictures of two separate barns on two sides of the Antelope Flats Road. One of them has a triangular roof and the other has a 5 sided roof (or may we say an 8 sided octagon cut in half)

Are both of these called "Moulton" barns? Are both equally significant or is one more significant than the other? What made them significant?

I think in the posts that I went through one was referred to as the "Thomas Moulton" barn and the other as the "John Moulton" barn. I take it they were part of the same family owning that land.

Can you point me to information on why these barns became so significant when there may be some other similar ones in the area (location, vacant for a while????)

Info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Milind

I think the golden light on the mountains alone give it that magical look, focusing the viewer to the way the sun sometimes selectively lights up the vista with a few rays streaming in through the clouds. Its great as it is.

Thanks, Jeff - this shot actually took 5 shots combined to get it close to what I really saw in person.

Two brothers settled in the area as homesteaders in the early 1910's. Thomas Moulton built the first barn - the southern barn in 1910. His brother, John Moulton, build the second barn - the northern barn in 1911-12. They are both known as the Moulton barn. Many photographers refer to them by their location (northern or southern). Local history says that both sold out in the 1920's, I believe and the land was eventually acquired by Rockefeller when he bought virtually the whole Jackson Hole Valley in the 1930s and 1940s.

Both barns are of course now owned by the American public via the US Park Service. Both are iconic representations of the "old" west and are supposedly the most photographed barns in the world according to several publications.

There are such gorgeous photos of the barn on this thread, I hesitate to post my meager offerings, but here goes. The first one was taken at about 6 am, but I'm disappointed with the clouds. They just weren't there, so the "glow" never really happened. The 2nd was taken about 2 in the afternoon, but in some ways I like it better, mainly because of the clouds. We had lovely weather the entire time we were there, but it was almost too nice.
