HDR of Concordia - 05-19-2011, 10:07 PM

Critique: CC:

I thought I would add this apart from my other post since this is in HDR, I use Dynamic Photo HDR 5, and I decided to really crank up the options on this photo. I was surprised on how many of my friends like it, (Perhaps they are just saying that they like it,) HDR is usually either loved or hated. Hope you like this. The second shot is the non HDR version

In all honesty, I perfer the non HDR version. A few tweeks, contrast for one this would be a cool image.

I was thinking the exact same thing before I read your post. HDR's when pushed to the extreme like this will only be enjoyed by a small group of viewers.

I like HDR's that have been pushed but it has to have a certain look to it, this shot doesnt have that look. The tone mapping is a bit strange, the colors seem to be a bit hap hazard, almost disconnected from each other if you will.

There are some nice textures and lines in this shot and I can see a possible nice black and white conversion in there....

Composition is ok, the whole thing seems a little soft. Could just be me though.

Great subject matter, fair capture, not so great PP execution.

Definitely created that surreal "look" that people respond to .... However, I think the halo around the cross on the left might be a bit too much pushing of the controls in Dynamic Pro HDR. How about a version where you scale it back enough to eliminate the halo?

I will try that, I have a feeling that the halo is also some CA from the lens. I got that pointed out to me on the Pentax forum. I will make some adjustments and see what happens. I have several bracketed shots, that I will use. Thanks!!!
