Big Bend Sunset -1st HDR - 06-21-2011, 09:06 PM

Critique: CC:

My first real attempt at HDR. I'm not pleased yet with the sky. There should be more blue and it went a little green as I warmed it. This was 3 shots a stop apart.

Not yet what I saw, but getting there. Still, wanted to show it off a bit.

Very nice! I've recently just started playing with sunset/sunrise HDRs also. I should post some...

The tone mapping is a challenge for me as I'm slightly colorblind. I have some tricks I use in photoshop to get around that with normal editing, but the HDR process leaves everything pretty whacked, so it's much more time-consuming.

These look great though. The casual viewer wouldn't think they are HDR, and that's what I strive for with mine too.

These are fantastic (in my opinion) because they don't scream HDR. Love #1. As a random side note, looks like you have a dust spot in the upper right corner, and maybe a few others in the sky towards the middle.

I like it. It is a subtle HDR I think. Great color in the oranges.

FWIW I am trying the NIK HDR demo program to do these. They were shot in RAW and handheld.

Andy, I use both the Photomatix and NIK HDR software. Both are great and can give you different results.
I find that NIK is much easier to use.
