Salina Turda in Romania... - 08-25-2011, 07:34 PM

Critique: CC:

While in Romania we had the chance to visit this Salt mine which was outstanding! The majority of Romania does not have A/C and it was around 95 degrees outside. In the salt mine it was around 55 degrees which was a nice relief from the heat. In the salt mine they have a bowling alley , numerous ping pong tables, a ferris wheel , and row boats. The mine has documentation back to May 1 1271.

Hopefully that construction in #5 isn't what's holding it all up!

Thanks everone! #5 was actually used with horses, the horse would turn the large gear in order to hoist the salt up and out of the mine. I did not get to hear alot of what the guide had to say due to trying to setup the tripod and the shot. But over 800 horses died and would only last about 8 months in the mine. If they did live and they were released from the mine the bright sun light would blind them due to being in the mine with very dim light for so long.
