Critique: CC:

Hi folks, I've been wanting to try my hand at Lightning shots and finally got my chance this week. I couldn't use my tripod because of where the bolts were so I had to perch on my backyard wall. Either way, I see dark circle at border of images and wondering what is causing it. I don't have lens hood on, only other thing is a polarizing filter. Could that be it. Shot using a Tamron 18-270 PZ lens.

If you want to link photos here from flickr, follow these instructions.

From the flickr photo page (http://www.flickr.com/photos/user_name/NNNNNNNNNN), go to "Share" --> "Grab the HTML/BBCode" --> (make sure BBcode is checked).

copy-paste the text in the dialog box to link the images.

Now that the images are finally visible, can anyone explain why there are dark ring-like shadows on the top left and right borders of each image? Thanks.

Vignetting is what that looks like. If the filter is too tall, it'll cause it.

Power lines. Gah. Always ruin a good lightning photo. Regardless, they are nice images.

Thanks G. Hopefully on my second attempt I have a better vantage point to shoot from.

Looked up the vignetting effect and I think it might be from my polarizing filter on my Tamron lens coupled with the inherent tendency of the lens itself. Oh well, at least now I know. Thanks again.
