This is basically an evolution of what I did last time.

I turned off IS, and did everything except use a remote clicker...which I should have used, but I have to say, I did like the results. And yes, I put my aperture wide open this time.

It's the OCD in me, but I still see some movement, but I will go back again in the near future with that remote in hand.

This was taken with 5.6 @ 2 sec with 1600 iso.

This was taken with 2.8 @ 1/2 sec with 3600iso

These are two of the shots I was happiest with, but I can still see there is a considerable amount of room for improvement. With the advice I'm getting on here, I'm not going totally insane.

Are you shooting from the dock or on real ground? There's almost always a little movement on a dock.
If you don't have a remote, just use the built in timer on the camera. That will be better than pushing the shutter button on long exposure shots.

These don't look bad to me.

I was definitively on solid ground, though it was right up against the shore, so I doubt there would have been enough of a surf to do so. From what you can tell in the photos, there were no waves to speak of.

I'll give it another shot with remote later on. Needless to say its driving me a bit bonkers considering my future ambitions.

Try locking up the mirror, so it doesn't slap and create a vibration during the shot. Like Jake says, use the timer if you don't have an electronic remote handy.
