Thanks Jeff. I sorta stumbled on this guy and he stayed put long enough for me to get a couple shots. I tried a silhouette originally, but it just didn't separate from the background, so a little fill flash and that's what it took. He flew off right after I got the shot, so I was pinching myself... lol!

This is really, really close to perfect... could score in the 90s in PPA print competition, maybe higher.. a slightly different crop, perhaps.. off axis fill would have been better, but overall....

WOW.

Impressed. Truly.

Thanks Brad and John! That means a lot to me, I appreciate that.

I agree, I'd have loved to put the flash off camera, but I had to work fast as he lifted up once on me between shots. This is cropped very slightly, I have a bit more room on the outside (maybe another 10%).

I cropped in just a bit in order to level the horizon and to help bring the size of the butterfly up a bit.

Maybe I'll get around to printing this one, some day... (I'm really bad about printing for myself - I hardly ever do.)

I really like this shot. I think the first instinct is to do a tight crop. I think that in this picture the sense of space really ads something extra to it.

I normally don't like shot with so little in focus, but this is a great exception.

Wonderful shot!! You really captured an all inspiring moment!
If I would have any nit about the shot, it would be that the stem to the flowers isn't straight. ;) And that is a very small nit....lol

Hehehe... I know, it bugged me too. In fact, it was straight when I shot it, but then I noticed the horizon was tilted, so back to crooked it went. ha!

Thanks everybody!

Anyone have any cropping suggestions/ideas? I was inclined to crop heavily into it, but I sort of like the full size, so I left it. I'd thought about maybe a portrait crop, but not sure.
