It wasn't part of our group. I happened the evening before we got there, and we spent about an hour searching the area then headed to Telluride until we got cell coverage and I called 911 then they informed us when it happened and no one was injured.

ps I'm the ugly guy on the left with the green jacket.

In Picture #7 I wanted to show how insignificant we were. If you have never been to the Rockies it's difficult to grasp the size of it all..

Such a beautiful area! We spent a week in Ouray, and I could have stayed there longer (at least until the snow started LOL)
We were there the last week of June, and had lots of snow the day we left.

I can't wait to go back!

Suzanne

It was the Black Bear Trail.

If you've ever done the the cable swing it was right there at the right turn just before you hit the stair steps.

We were there in July also on the second weekend.

Great Place

Leo
As of October 6th they are getting a lot of snow accordong to the local weather report. We were gonna go to Imogene but it was closed at the summit with over a foot of snow.
I predict the trails won't open again until late June, weather permitting.
That gives you some time to get a trip planned. Give me a heads up and I'll do some recon in early spring and give you an update..

Lewis

PLB's are cool items and if I wasn't already a Ham radio operator I may get one. I already have a radio with a gps in it so I can send a beacon that allows someone to track me on google earth.

PLB's are a good item to get, I think $250. is resonable for the one you referenced in you post..

I also have onstar ( never used it ).
