Nice! I used to go up there as a kid with my parents.
I need to go back. Are the buffalo still there?

Turned out pretty good Keith! I'm glad we went, it was fun.
I just started looking at my shots about an hour ago. The time-lapse should be decent I think, we'll see.
Mel, there are still Buffalo up there, they're all over.

I agree, I really like #2. Has great colors and is my favorite in the series.

Thanks guys. Nothing like shooting in the pouring rain.
Still had a great time.
Todd and I are almost twins in how we think so we go out shooting often.
I know he came away with some great shots as well.
looking forward to seeing his timelaps.
I shot some of my first timelaps as well.
but have not edited anything.
Will be a while till I do that since I am more concerned with getting things to stock first.

I love the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. We are only 2 hrs. away. They had alot of fires this summer. Did you see much of that? Did you eat the best longhorn burgers around at the Meers Restaurant?
I like your second photo best, and the last one is a really cool angle.
So may I ask how you do time lapse photos in the rain?

You've given me the "hiking itch" again!

Charrie, yes.. I'd say about 60% of the place has been burned. It gave the place a pretty surreal look to it.
Yes, we got our Meers burgers.. mmmm tasty!
The rain proved to be quite a pain, especially leaving the camera out in the rain for extended periods of time. I had a plastic bag over mine, seemed to work pretty well.
On a side not, I got bit by some kind of spider. I didn't think much about it when it happened, but I had a massive onset of diarrhea a few hours later (blamed it on the meets burger!) and then the next day, my arm has completely swole up and feels ilke it's on fire. Can't raise it above my head, get waves of nausea etc.. it sucks. First time I've ever been bitten by something like that.

Cool shots Keith! #2 is probably my favorite of the bunch. Quote:

Some of those clouds look like that would make a cool time-lapse, can't wait to see what y'all got!
Did it clear up at night?
Edit: On the plus side, spider bites give you better climbing abilities.

Todd, go to the doctor man! That really sounds bad. You could definitely be in big trouble with what sounds like a poisonous spider bite. Let us hear what he says.

Wow! I didn't know Oklahoma had terrain like that. I guess I need to get out more!
Definitely get that arm looked at!

Ken, we've lived here in Ardmore (southern OK) for 19 years and only "discovered" the Wichita Wildlife Refuge a few years ago. It's practically in our backyard being just two hours away. It's northwest of Lawton, an easy trek off I-44. Lots of rugged areas for great hiking adventures, very rocky. And you can drive to the top of Mt. Scott and the view is fantastic! There's also camping and fishing and a nice nature center. Lots of wildlife including bison, elk, a prairie dog town, etc.
And if you go, you HAVE to eat at the Meers Restaurant in Meers, Ok which is just on the north side of the refuge. It's just a rugged wooden restaurant built on to many times, but the line is down the street if you don't get there early. They raise their own grass-fed longhorns so the hamburgers are out of this world, like no other hamburger flavor I've ever tasted. And if you have room left over, be sure and get their cobbler piled high with homemade vanilla ice cream. Check out their website: http://www.meersstore.com/
