Flooding of Turner Falls in Davis, OK - 11-08-2011, 02:27 PM

Critique: NC:

We're just 20 min. away from Turner Falls in Davis, Ok where they've been experiencing drought like the rest of us. I stopped by there on Saturday and took a photo of the dwindling falls never knowing that a day later they would get nine inches of rain!

Went back this morning and needless to say, it looks spectacular! They had to evacuate 10 campers but thankfully no one was washed away. Unfortunately, lots of pedestrian walkways were destroyed.

The colors are beautiful right now.

The Saturday shot:

Today's shot along with a few others:

Very pretty, and what a difference! Glad you got some rain up there.

I love the leaves turning, I wish I had some time this weekend otherwise I might head up there to take some photos myself!

Holy crap! I was there just a while ago and it was almost bone dry. I can't believe what a difference a few inches of quickly placed water will do!

Unfortunately, if we don't continue to get more water, it will probably go right back to your Sat. shot before too long. 8-(

Yes, I was amazed that we are having such beautiful fall colors with the drought we've had. Wonder what really determines that?

Thanks everyone! Can't wait till the water goes down enough to get in there on the ground. It will be closed for quite some time now though. Lots of repairs to be made.

I had wondered why the Dr. that built the castle there built it so high off the ground. Now I know!

Charrie, very nice!

This would make a nice scene to practice some subtle HDR to keep detail in the sky and water while keeping the exposure good for the trees :)
