More illustrations of the Drifter. - 11-10-2011, 09:49 AM

Critique: NC:

Someone on another photo forum was all hung up on my religious aspect my image.
So he could not get past that. Art is not always about the viewer.

Some get their strength from a box of Wheaties in the morning, some from the cross.
I have no shame in my faith. Though I will never rub anyones face in it and try to convert you, but it will be reflected in most my work.

99% of my friends have no faith or believe in Christ.
It has never been a prerequisite to be a friend of mine to believe what I believe.

Don't know why I felt the need to post that here since this is one of the more respectable photo forums. but it is what it is...

I think they are awesome. The religious connotation is the basis for the image, at least in my eye. Very impressive stuff.

Keith - great work, I would love to have these hanging in my office. Not only are they inspirational (we appear to have the same faith), but they also would create the opportunity for me to discuss my faith when people ask about them.

Great body of work.

We need new stuff for our greenroom. I think these would be awesome. Do you have a gallery link or something I could send some people?

I'm disappointed. I was fully expecting the other picture with a wheaties box on the side of the mountain.

I'm not a huge fan of #2, mostly because it's a little over the top with all the wrecked ships. I also think some of them that are more in the fog end up looking very digital/CGI, and I think it's just trying a tad too hard. Personally I think you could lose the two ships in the middle and it would still get that desolate feeling.

Really like #1, and it's probably my favorite of the series so far. Very strong emotions, and has a message, but not slap you upside the head christian for those who hate that.

#3, is ok, but for some reason the drag marks (or is that one of those walking stones?) of the rock in the center draw my attention. From the guy up, I really like the image, but I don't really know why else I don't like the foreground.

Don't let the naysayers bring you down.

.

Thats good feedback I like to hear. Sometimes I do not know when to stop.
And I keep messing with it or adding too much. Will probably delete a few of those ships. I was thinking I had too many in there. Another person suggested on another forum to bring the fog in more to cover the hiker as well.

Here is a rework on the Drifter IV.
Deleted some ships, extended the fog and added a shadow on the lighthouse.

I have to say I like that much better. I might even remove ship closest to the lighthouse as well - as it doesn't look very realistic (it doesn't seem to fit well in that spot.)
