Landscape isn't really my forte, but I liked how these photos turned out on a recent trip to my boyfriend's home town near Victoria, Texas. It was very overcast so I felt these looked better in black and white. I tried not to overprocess, but I really needed to pull in the details back from the sky so they look a bit HDRish.

Melissa, I like your choice of B&W here, and I especially like the composition and DoF on the second picture of the fence. I think that they would all benefit from having the black point set a little higher - - I agree that the subtle gray tones work because of it having been a cloudy day, but even on a cloudy day there are real blacks... I'm not suggesting that you increase the contrast. Using a "levels" function to bring up the black point will add a little more definition into all the darker grays without changing the top end of the image.

I welcome comments on any picture I post... Thanks.

Thanks Fred and Westly!

I'll have to mess with the curves and levels a bit more (particularly the first image). I was trying to add more black, but it would get too dark real fast. I might have to manipulate it in something other than just Lightroom.

Cool shots. I really like the fence. I agree they seem a touch bright to me. The subject is great though, just keep tinkering.
