I struggle with landscapes. This is overlooking Monument Valley from the top of Hunt Mesa. Forgive the sensor dust, etc. It's just exported straight from Lightroom.

Two of the seven crew perished in the crash.<<

Went on a hairy suburban ride to the top and primitive camped overnight. Lots of fun, but my DH said he'd never go on a ride like that again. Crazy dangerous. We're walking up next time.

The Mokii - Dugway (Utah 261) is approaching Monument Valley from the east to north east. The road of legend. My daughter drove it at 20-25 MPH or slower. We watched as a local descended somewhere around 40-50 mph. The descent is 1,100 ft in three miles. Truthfully, it is a quite safe drive.

We were ascending/descending along the side of the mesa in a 4 wheel drive suburban. In many places there was not road and a rock wall on one side, drop off on the other with rocks falling from under our wheels, but it was the needing to get a running start to get over the rocks and DH's fear that we'd go over the edge after clearing the rocks that he hated. This was hardcore. I'm sure they're going to lose someone at some point. There is a hike available to reach the site as well, if we ever go again we'll let them drive the gear up and we'll hike. The tour itself was great and I highly recommend the experience. It was completely quiet at night on the mesa, no wind, no insects, nothing. Absolutely beautiful views...and the drive through the canyons to get there was really neat. It gave more of a sense of the timelessness of the area, especially getting away from the commercialism of Monument Valley, etc. There were random abandoned Pueblos and hogans scattered along the way. Our guide told us about his family history and the current state of affairs among the Navajo Nation.
