I enjoy all the lines in this photo. the rows of trees, sidewalk cracks, painted sidewalk ramp, the way the street wraps around the center of the buildings, the bricks under the steetlight. Thats a very interesting place. Thanks for sharing. Just out of curiousity, have you ever shot it late in the evening or nighttime while lit up by all the lights?

Hm, my first thought was that I didn't like this photo, I mean really, you have a tree growing out of your subject!

But, I looked at it some more and took in the leading lines and I really like it now. There's this nice row of trees going towards the center of the photo, and when you expect another tree, there isn't it's a lamp post instead. Great colors, and I love the splash of red from the fire hydrant (although I'm a huge fan of fire hydrants in general, so that might be a biased comment).

Very nice.

I missed the fact that the lamp was the subject until after posting. The tree would be a distraction for the lamp. But I still love the location and the rest of the photo. Maybe couldve just scooted the tripod over a little to let the lamp contrast the sky neatly.

Is that why the light is dead center in the frame?
Hard to tell without being there, but I think I would have done what I could to avoid that to make a more interesting composition. Maybe pushed to the left of the frame, getting rid of the distracting fire hydrant and showing more of the nice architecture in the background. Less DOF might have helped make sure the street lamp is still the main focal point.

Just my 2 pennies.

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the thoughts.
This one just appealed to me for some reason when I first saw it in my monitor. It was for a flickr project about Street Lights. I had to remove a couple of cars from this. and the crop was to keep a number of other autos and distractions out of the scene.

Love the lines and great color. I probably would have steeped to my left and shifted the post over, but not knowing what the rest of the scene was it is hard to say for sure. I do like the curb in the right corner though...tough call. Nicely done.
