I'de suggest winter months, after a front passes, and first thing in the am. The wind that almost always blows with passage of fronts is always erasing the footprints and creating new patterns. Early morning the light is great and the sand is in pristine condition with no foot prints. In winter after a cold front almost no one goes.

All are great. I do like the lone tree in #1. And, #3 almost has an "optical illusion" in the sand patterns.

Its facinating to see. In the third picture I stood and watched as the wind blew from the west (left of the picture) around another dune and swirled in a small eddy right at the base of the dune pictured causing the sand to be smooth without the surrounding ripples, the portion of the picture at the bottom that appears overexposed.
