Nice work as always. 3 miles one way is a pretty fair trek in the dark, and the cold, and carrying gear...

Thanks Leon! Yes, the hike kept me quite warm. There's no way I would do this shot in the summer.

Thanks Michael!
I was wishing there was another person with me on the hike back. You know, just in case a mountain lion comes up, I could kick that person in the knee and run.

It's cooler at night in the summer so...

That's why it's a good idea to carry bear spray... the person can still run but their screams draw attention away from you and it gives the mountain lion a challenge. You have to be considerate of the wildlife.

Remind me not to go shooting with you again. You know.. last time we went out the coyotes were getting close to us. Now I know what your plan was

My plan was to simply outrun you. Little did I know you were a step ahead of me on that. You're a crafty one Jake!

You could always make ghost sounds and while he's cleaning up the poop you could make your getaway

Jake, nice two shots.
There has to be someone in your area that will go with you to take these marvelous looking photos. If just for the safety factor.....
Wish I lived closer.

Oops, just noticed that there are, but dare not go with you....

Jakes cool and I would love to shoot with him more. The problem is that he goes to places that are several hours away in each direction. I don't blame him though. For what he does he needs to get away from the light pollution.

Thanks!
Someone was supposed to join me on this trip, but then after I got there something came up and they couldn't make it.
There were a few night shots I didn't get because I didn't want to trek out there by myself. But that gives me a good reason to go back with someone.
I've posted before about having people join me, but like David said, most people wuss out when they hear how far out we have to go...
