Night falls over the canyon

This is a discussion on Night falls over the canyon within the Landscapes forums, part of the Showcase category; I like it also. Palo Duro is one of the places I'd like to go to one of these days....

Thanks Patrick! I mainly just tweaked the contrast on the sky.

No problem!
This is kind of a HDR shot. It's such a dirty word, I know. But I manually blended the two exposures together in photoshop. I probably could of done it in one with a 4 stop grad filter, but I would of had star trails or been at a really high ISO.
The EXIF is incorrect in the photo.
Which brings us to this thread here:

Beautiful. I wanna see it bigger.

You've really gotten into the nighttime stuff, haven't you? That's great! I'm not sure I could stay up all night anymore. LOL

I just saw these on Flickr. Not your usual Palo Duro shots. Love that sky!
Did you spend the night there? I want to rent a cabin sometime.

Yeah, I love shooting at night. For this trip I really wasn't up that late though. Was in bed by midnight both nights.

Thanks Melany!
I spent two nights in the state park. Pulled my pop-up camper and made it my home base.
