I took this before a night kayak trip around clear lake. I wasnt brave enough to bring the camera with me in the kayak. What could i have done differently? What post processing could I do to make it better? Thanks for the input.

What are you trying to portray in this photo ??
I don't get a sense of purpose or imagery focus here. I see some lines and a nice blurry background. I don't know what the point of shooting this was. I am sure you had some inspiration at the time, and that is what you might try to capture.
We take photos for many reasons. A pretty scene, an amusing situation, colors, etc.
I can't figure out what you had in mind here.

I would have opened the lens all the way up and completely blurred the background. Pick a point of focus. Show us what caught your eye. It's hard to tell what you're shooting for (sorry for repeating Capt. Tom).

Probably not a bad idea not taking the camera in a kayak. One little oops and your camera will be ruined. I have to admit though... I've been working on a way to take a kayak down to the TP&W kayak trails...

REI in Houston at:

7538 Westheimer Rd
Houston, TX 77063
(713) 353-2582

17717 Tomball Parkway
Houston, TX 77064
(832) 237-8833

or any decent boat store (Bass Pro Shop, Gander Mountain) will have waterproof bags, cases, boxes, etc. that will work in a kayak.

I have a lifetime accumulation of photos like yours. Ones that seemed like a good idea at the moment of exposure. Keep shooting. You will get better.
