South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
#1 - Fisherman in mokoro on the S. Luangwa River. A mokoro is a traditional dugout canoe that is propelled by a pole. They are used in shallow water with thick vegetation. Note the hippo watching the fishermen.
#2 - Sunset at a lagoon. Lagoons are created by the animals over the centuries. The elephants and hippos wallow in the area to expand the water hole. Hippos walk in the same spot and create trails from the water to their feeding areas. Every year as the river floods, the lagoons are filled. Some of them are large enough to hold water through the dry season.
