New to this forum. I was born and raised in the panhandle in a small town called Claude.

This is a shot of my brothers horse last June.

Love the wide open spaces. My favorite movie was filmed in Claude...Hud. McMurtry stated at a screening I went to one time in Wichita that they had to tie the buzzards to the tree at the dead cow scene. People have to grow up in this part of Texas to see anything pretty about it.

Hud - 01-19-2005, 09:41 PM

I was in the movie HUD. They paid me $50 to walk across the street, and my oldest brother was in the scene where they shot all the cows, but the pit was empty. They even imported the buzzards also. I never expected anyone to remember HUD.
I have family in Vernon the last name would be Bennett. I've only driven through it and I remember it being a pretty place.

I need to go for now nice to get a response and I hame more pics of the area , some in the Palo Duro canyon.

Later

Wow Chief, that's a drop dead gorgeous photo! I really like that B&W colourized subject technique. The only thing I'd do different is crop the bottom foreground a little just below that dark patch of vegetation on the left side of the frame. That'll keep the horizon from running right through the middle of the image and put more emphasis on the horses and that beautiful expansive sky.

Next time I watch HUD, I'll look for your scene.

very cool shot!!!

i like it... the only minor thing i would tweak is leveling the horizon.

other than that i LOVE the b&w and color combo.

my uncle is a quarter horse trainer in Florida i need to get out there sometime...
