Eight Hours round trip to Hill Country, today. - 05-13-2007, 06:44 PM

Left the house in Austin at 8:00 this morning and returned at 4:00 this afternoon. Had no set agenda besides exploring. Just drove and stopped from time to time to snap some photos.

Wow. Great Pictures. I drove down to Austin yesterday and notice tons of wild flowers along I 35. I wish I would have had time to stop but when someone is waiting on thier product and the load to 2 hrs late getting out of production you don't have time to stop.

Hi Bob,

Beautiful shots! Where is that view of the Enchanted Rock? I have a shot that's taken somewhere close where you took this, but I have no idea what building that is from;)

Best regards,

Best regards,
Arnor, it is the Trois Estate. Folks there are friendly and don't seem to mind photographers. I've been there several times and have eaten a good meal there, also.

Incredible shots. I'd swear that I was looking at a series of post cards.

Here's a few more photos of the area mostly a bit south and east of Llano.

These shots are great - makes me think I am right there with you. We are planning a trip in a couple of weeks down to Austin - any suggestions of areas to go for these types of shots?

Ben, I had been out hiking for hours and hours over the hills and thru valleys and had forged a couple of rivers when I crested a hill and there they were...

Actually, there were five of them directly across the road from the old Prairie Mountain School, which is 18 miles west of Highway 16 (the road between Llano and Fredericksburg) on County Road 2323 (which is just south of Llano). There's a 8 foot fence between you and them. First time they were within 3 feet of me. Second time, they were a bit more standoffish and stayed about 20 feet away from me. They were close enough, tho, that you could feel their gutteral grunts that they made.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.

This is the last batch of shots I've dug thru. Most of these shots were taken around the Prairie Mountain and via the "back way" to the Enchanted Rock area.
