everyone has covered the lens and lodging, i will contribute my 2 cents.
wake up early if you want animal photo opportunities because that's the time they feed.
i was up at 4am everyday i was there and drove along the Figure 8 route in Yellowstone. Without much tracking, I saw elks, moose, bisons, prong horns, black bears and wolves.
Don't miss the geysers and the pools too.

I've been doing quite a bit of googling and reading the info provided, here, also (thanks). Looking at less than 7 weekends before I head out to GT and YS for a week.

I found this rather neat pictorial map that I found to be rather interesting.

We may run into each other up there that week. I've tenatively planned a week long trip myself. But I'm driving the whole way....

Robert, keep in touch. We're spending the first 3 nites in Jackson Hole and the next 3 nites in West Yellowstone and saving the last nite for whatever we didn't see or some place we really liked.

And why can't stuff like this ever happen when I plan a trip? Look what's happening, today, for a few lucky folks out in the Grand Teton range. If anyone is close enough, might make for a very interesting photo or two with the mountains as a background.
