Been there both summer and winter, and it's my favorite place on Earth so far. Beautiful shots.

Any of Lake Moran?

Thanks, Grant and Tom.

Tom, if you have any pictures taken in both the seasons you visited, please post them. I'd love to see different viewpoints. I did not get to Lake Moran (was dashing to Banff between family wedding ceremonies in Calgary). I'll definitely make another trip and be in the area for a longer time.

I wish. I didn't have a digital SLR when I went.

I think the hotel with the green awning in the first shot is the Moose Lodge or some such. We stayed there in the summer.

We saw 2 Bears that summer trip. A grizzly was at the top of the Lake Louise Ski lift (they run in in the summer for mountain bikers and sight seers), and they had to stop the lift until she went away. Then, a juvenile black bear literally walked into the hotel lobby. Sometimes they stroll into town, and this one walked down main street. When the electric eye of the hotel doors made them slide open, we walked right in. They just shooed him off like it was no big deal.

Oh, the memories! We honeymooned in Alberta, and splurged for a few days staying at the Banff Springs Hotel. I wish I had paid attention to my photography back then, because all my honeymoon photos sucked.

I love Banff! My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Banff and Jasper way back when.

That last shot looks like the falls behind the Banff Springs hotel.

Yes, the falls are the ones next to the Banff Springs hotel. Pictures 1 and 2 in the last post are also at the same location - just swung the camera in the direction opposite the falls.

There is a lake near Banff called Moraine, which to my mind is more beautiful than Lake Louise. I have many photos from there, but all are transparencies.

EL, these are nice. Love the clouds and mountains (like they are cut in steps).

Bill, if you can scan some of your best transperencies that would be nice for everyone to see.

I definitely want to visit Calgary again and these posts will help any reader understand where the good phot locales are.
