A bike ride - 01-14-2009, 05:46 PM

I ride regularly thru this area and see pictures all the time but have a hard time getting it on camera. What do these do for the viewer if anything?

Trey,

I take it this is the Aunt Hills?
I like the first one because of the reflection and the second one does nothing because of the big tree in the middle, IMHO..... The third one with the bridge, might work, but from a different angel, IMO....

I like the reflection in the first one, the others I'd change position/perspective.
There's some real beauty out on those bike trails.

depending on your intent, it'd be fun to catch some riders dropping off (ie: over @ memorial park some pretty large dropoffs).

Hey! It would be cool to get riders pics just need another phodog to ride with. Usually when I ride with others I can't afford to carry my gear!

Set up a morning to meet and I'll bring my mountain bike. I bet there are a few others on the forum that will join us either to ride or take photos.

Ok, where is this?

About 90 miles west of Houston just north of LaGrange? How long ago was this?

As a photographer, they look alright. As a cyclist, it makes me want to be there.

I ride at the ant hills all the time, I always start at Dairy Ashford just north of Briarforest in that parking lot. Ride for about 1/8 of a mile to the trailhead and then ride all the way down to the big BMX park by wilcrest and the beltway. Its a nice place to ride and you have a great pic op at the bmx park if there are any riders out there.

sounds like we have a potential get together begining here. I have the ability and prefer week day rides. less crowds on the trails, weekends can get pretty busy. Cool!

I'm a little confused as to where this is.
I ride my Rivendell on the hershey trail sometimes, starting at my house in spring branch and then picking up the trail at the beltway and then I go all the way out to barker cypress. David is saying the ant hills is near the hershey trail but trey is saying it's 90 miles west of houston. Confused. I also would like to know where the bmx park is.

NONO the 90 miles was in referance to pic posted of RockyHill a few back where the guy was wanting us to quess!!!! Anthills are other side of the Bayou from where you are riding. I'd be glad to meet up with ya almost anytime during the week and show you around over there. The BMX section is kept a secret to help prevent its being destroyed.

Ahhhhh, ok i misunderstood. Unfortunately I can't make it during the week unless i have the day off. Plus i don't have a mountain bike.... yet. haha Mines good for road or hard packed fire trails.
How do you get to the south side of the bayou? I'm used to coming in from the entrance at memorial/beltway 8 or the old parking lot entrance under the beltway.
