Bill I am going to have to check my schedule and see if maybe we can set up a time to meet up and go. I think going with someone that knows the area is a great advantage. I will let you know. Can you do weekends?

Larry, (taking from their brochure) maintain a bison herd of 650, elk at 700, Texas longhorn around 300, and thousands (my figure) of praire dogs. You can fish in all their lakes in accordance with state and federal regulations, one campground, and backpack with permit in the Charon Garden Wilderness Area.
Scott, I work 3 and off one weekend, but this is a night and I can always make a trip. The gates to some of the trails do not open until 9:00 in the morning. I see no problems with making any weekend trip. I am planning in late May or June a trip to photograph waterfalls in Arkansas.

Bill, some very interesting landscapes (#7 is my fav) and wildlife (the prarie dog family is very cute) but you keep talking about snakes. I can hike but I don't run or get out of the way so well. Snake garters just ain't in my wardrobe.

Bill, I just looked at your shots again! I have got to find a time to get out there. I have boots not snake garters, but I still want to go and hike the less rocky paths!

Debbie, I went yesterday for a shot of the apple and pear (now up on the website) and the trees still are a little bare. Peak should be in a couple of weeks. Everything is starting to get real green. Some wildflowers. Meet a lady shooting prarie dogs with a 500mml lens She said she was from Houston area. The hike to the forty foot hole or the Narrows is easy. The hard part is carrying all the equipment (tripods, lens, ect) It sure beats Copper Breaks or Medicine Mounds, although Ive had a lot of fun at Copper Breaks on the bike/hiking trails.

Nice series, I didn't realize there was terrain like that so close to the TX/OK border.

Some of the best days of my childhood were spent around that region. If you get to go, eat a Meers burger for me.

These are great! I have a friend that lives about an hour away and goes there a lot. I would love to go at least once...

Gorgeous place! We really enjoyed our trip there although we didn't do a lot of hiking and certainly no rock climbing. I'd go again anytime just for the wildlife. I never did see the Elk though. The short trip for a Meers Burger was definately worth it. That place has a lot of ummmm character...LOL.

You should also check out Medicine Park and the Winery of the Wichitas. Interesting architecture in the cobbled buildings.

Well with all this talk I am going to have to make a trip up there for sure. Guess I need to go before it gets too hot.
