I've lived 4 hours away and just now made a road trip to see it.
It is awsome and here are a few shots. It was a lousy day with high winds ans sand blowing everywhere.

C/C appreciated.
All shots were with the Kit lens..

Beautiful subject, I see why you are kicking yourself for not getting there sooner. Not bad shots either for a crummy day.

It's definitely worth a trip - no matter how far away you live to see these in person. I'd probably straighten my horizon a bit in #1 and 2. It appears on a slight angle to me.

Last summer, I wanted to go there badly. We did a huge loop around it, but didn't get there. You pretty much have to be going there to get there. Nice shots, but why are these color, and where's John Wayne? ;)

This is where a polarizer really earns it's keep.

Di you take the tour road? Next time pay a few extra bucks and get a navajo to take you into the area with an off road vehicle. (take at least a 1/2 day tour-you will get your moneys worth)

A 4x10 print of the 3 muffins was in my prints from the Large Format Print Exchange. I think that's an omen. Time to get out there. Look for the Duke's foot prints.

Paul I drove the tour road myself. Heck I even get in free. It goes with being considered a local, and I knew the girl at the pay station.. I don't know if everyone knows about the motel they have built there but I was impressed it looked like there were a lot of rooms over looking the valley. I WILL go back as soon as the dang wind quits blowing next month maybe.

Nice images, I like the panoramic crop in #2. Man what I wouldn't give to have that kinda scenery so close to home (and you've got lots of other stuff even closer).

A Few More - 04-25-2009, 12:12 AM

The Blue Coffee Pot is a good place to eat. Pretty good Navajo Tacos..

I forgot to mention the time of day we were here from 5pm till 7:30 pm and the blowing sand helped add a reddish color to everything. Even my truck was turning red..
