Hey there ShutterflyPro -- love this shot. Great lighting, subject matter, and composition are the foundation. On top of that, I think it's a great example of using a Lensbaby to intensify the interest in one part of a photo and to make a completely fresh image.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I'll let Kirsten know you posted this here and invite her to drop by.
Cheers,

Absolutely love the way the flowers are in focus. I haven't had such good luck (or skill) yet. But I'm still trying.

"Wow!" she says as it opens on her screen, "that is awesome."
It looks like you have mastered the Lensbaby quite well. Thanks so much for sharing such an inspiring shot.

OK...I guess I'll be a bit different here. I like the shot, the "lensbaby" effect, the colors are really good. The one thing that nags at me is the way the head (to me) appears to be "disappearing". I see it as if someone had pulled the head or smashed it.
I think if the selective focus would have been a bit more pronounced in the bottom, the effect on the head only would not be as noticeable.
Lensbaby is on my shopping list and I like the effect - the head just bothers me a bit. Again, since I'm the only one to point this out, it's probably just me.

I don't know what camera you are using, but I know when I used the lensbaby with my D70 or D70s, I could not manage to tell what was in focus or not. Since I got my D200 that problem has been solved. I can actually see the focal point.
But no matter what the lensbaby takes lots of practice and skill. (Of which I need more in both catagories)

Her head is definately an issue with this pic but I really like it. Here is another pic from the same session. I don't like it as much but it is still a nice lensbaby pic.
Hey Sam, you know the front lens cap is a real pain. It really slows down how quickly I can change the lens. It is two this to unscrew real easy. Do you guys have a slip on cap or one that has some grooves on it to grab hold of?

Hi there,
I think the head issue is vaid and could possibly be dealt with in a number of ways. A slightly darker aperture might bring both head and bouquet into focus, or as suggested, moving the sweet spot and the composition down more to focus on the bouquet.
Shutterfly, we are totally with you on the lens cap. At first it was a nice retro touch, but right now we are working on a replacement which will be much more practical and easy to change fast. Thanks for the feedback.
